Banana Harvest

On this Sunday evening, we decided it was time to harvest our banana bunch.  I can't quite recall what prompted us to decide that tonight was THE night, but we retrieved our Japanese saw from its hiding place and went to town.  More accurately, we did what every relatively intelligent couple does: we googled how to harvest bananas.  There are amazingly helpful videos for just about everything, and we were so happy to find a cute Australian couple's take on banana harvesting.

First, you cut the bunch from the tree:

These bananas are busting at the seams:

Next, we separate the large bunch into manageable bunches:

Entertain the stray kitty:

Marvel at your green thumb!

We shared the bananas with our co-workers.  They ripened quickly, and then were over-ripe as quickly. No waiting on these guys for very long, unless you have an itching for banana bread.
